"Making Waves sets the gold standard in best practices for educating young people from low-income backgrounds. It is a model for raising achievement and attainment for less advantaged students that needs to be implemented in hundreds of communities nationwide."
Providing The Educational Opportunities That Change Lives
Facilities
Research shows that the condition of school buildings has a real impact on student achievement, attendance, health, and safety, as well as on teacher turnover. Too often, low-income young people attend schools in rundown buildings with peeling plaster, crumbling ceilings, deficient heating systems, substandard bathrooms, and other hazards.
Making Waves Academy offers its students a safe, comfortable learning environment with unique features conducive to academic success. Constructed for just $250 per square foot, less than half the cost at most public schools, the Academy’s facilities include a 3,400 square-foot library/media center, art and music studios, an artificial turf field, and state-of-the-art technology classrooms and science labs.
